Suarez, a rookie who had compiled a 5.65 ERA in his first seven major league starts this season, stalled the Phillies on three hits over seven innings, pitching the Giants to their third consecutive win.

One of the hits Suarez allowed was a one-out triple by Jorge Alfaro in the third inning. But the 25-year-old got out of the inning unscathed to keep the game scoreless by getting opposing pitcher Vince Velasquez to ground out and Cesar Hernandez to fly out.

The game remained scoreless until the sixth, when Panik led off with a double. He then scored on a couple of ground balls, taking third on Brandon Crawford's bouncer to shortstop and dashing home when Andrew McCutchen hit a roller slow enough that Panik was able to beat shortstop Scott Kingery's throw to the plate.

That was the only run the Giants scored off Velasquez (4-6), who worked 6 1/3 innings. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out nine in the tough loss.

The Giants added a run against the Philadelphia bullpen in the eighth. Again, it was Panik who got the inning rolling, this time with a single off left-hander Adam Morgan.

Panik advanced to third on a single by Crawford, and scored on McCutchen's second RBI of the night, a sacrifice fly to center field off right-hander Edubray Ramos.

Suarez (2-4), who has never pitched into the eighth inning this season, was pulled after seven despite having thrown just 86 pitches.

Tony Watson and Hunter Strickland then needed just 17 pitches to finish the job, each throwing a perfect inning.

Strickland was credited with his 12th save after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth.

Nick Hundley joined Panik with two hits for the Giants, who have opened a six-game homestand with back-to-back wins.

Chris Stratton and three relievers pitched the 4-0 win over the Phillies on Friday night.

The Phillies have been held to four runs in their last four games, and they've gone 2-4 to begin a seven-game trip.

The Giants out-hit the Phillies 7-3.
