Mets 4, Marlins 0: Dillon Gee tossed eight terrific innings and Chris Young homered for the second time in four days as New York captured the rubber game of its weekend set.
Gee (2-1) allowed three hits - all singles - and overcame four walks to improve to 3-0 with a 2.30 ERA in his career against Miami. The right-hander struck out six and threw nearly 65 percent of his pitches for strikes before Carlos Torres took care of things in the ninth.
Lucas Duda and David Wright added RBI doubles for the Mets, who recorded six of the game's nine hits. Jarrod Saltalamacchia had a single and two walks for the Marlins, who fell to 2-10 on the road.
Duda's ground-rule double plated Daniel Murphy with the game's first run in the second inning and the Mets did the rest of their damage in the fifth. Curtis Granderson led off the frame with a walk against Marlins starter Tom Koehler (2-2) before Wright's double off the bottom of the left-field wall made it 2-0.
Two batters later, Wright came around on Young's second home run of the season, capping an 11-pitch at-bat against Koehler. The Marlins put two runners on in both the sixth and seventh innings, but Gee was helped by a double play in each frame.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Mets manager Terry Collins plans on sticking with Kyle Farnsworth as the team's closer. "I still think he's going to be fine," Collins said Sunday. "I don't have too many concerns about it right now." ... Koehler, who was charged with four runs in five innings, had pitched 19 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings against the Mets before Duda's double. ... Wright made an over-the-shoulder diving catch in foul territory behind third base in the fourth inning before Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria likely saved two runs with a sliding stop up the middle in the bottom of the frame.
