Ex-Rockie Matt Holliday recorded two doubles and an RBI while Yadier Molina had three hits for the Cardinals, who lead Pittsburgh by 3 1/2 games in the National League Central. Gonzales (3-2) allowed one run, four hits and four walks to help St. Louis win its 13th straight home game in September dating to last season.
Brandon Barnes drove in a run for the Rockies, who completed an 0-6 road trip and fell to a major league-worst 20-55 away from home. Jordan Lyles (6-3) extended his winless streak to seven starts after allowing three runs and nine hits in six innings.
Holliday, who is hitting .400 with 11 homers and 35 RBIs in 135 at-bats against Colorado and 12-for-24 this season, doubled down the left-field line in the third inning to drive in Jon Jay. Peralta followed by belting a 3-1 pitch out to left-center for his 21st of the season and third in nine games to give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead.
St. Louis, which is 10-4 in September, tacked on an insurance run in the eighth when Molina hit a ground-rule double and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Trevor Rosenthal, the Cardinals' fifth reliever, struck out the side in a perfect ninth to earn his 44th save in 49 opportunities as St. Louis pitchers fanned 16 batters.

The Rockies have committed 100 errors this season - second in the National League to Pittsburgh's 104. ... Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado departed in the fourth with a chest contusion after diving in an attempt to prevent a single to left by Molina in the second.
