Mets 5, Rockies 1: Juan Lagares had three hits and scored twice while Dillon Gee pitched six-plus scoreless innings as visiting New York salvaged the finale of its our-game series with Colorado.
Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy, David Wright and Chris Young each delivered a run-scoring double as the Mets handed the Rockies only their second loss in eight games. Gee (3-1) struck out five while allowing six hits and one walk before exiting after the first two Colorado batters reached in the seventh.
Nolan Arenado extended his hitting streak to 24 games with a fourth-inning double into the left-field corner for the Rockies. The streak is the second-longest in franchise history behind Michael Cuddyer’s 27-game run last year.
Curtis Granderson got New York on the board with a first-inning RBI single off Jhoulys Chacin (0-1), who was making his season debut after a shoulder injury. Wright and Young hit run-scoring doubles in the third and Murphy added one in the fourth to make it 4-0.
Duda doubled home a run in the seventh for a five-run margin. Justin Morneau hit a leadoff homer in the ninth to prevent Colorado from being blanked for the first time this season after the team scored a total of 28 runs in winning the first three games of the series.
