Rockies 11, Mets 10: Pinch-hitter Charlie Culberson belted a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as Colorado recorded a wild victory over visiting New York after erasing deficits of 6-0 and 10-9 and blowing two leads.
Culberson connected off Kyle Farnsworth (0-2) to give the Rockies their sixth victory in seven games two batters after Troy Tulowitzki led off the ninth with his third hit of the contest. LaTroy Hawkins (1-0) notched the victory despite yielding Juan Lagares' run-scoring single in the top of the frame that put the Mets in front.
Nolan Arenado extended his hitting streak to 23 games with a grand slam during an eight-run fifth and Tulowitzki recorded his 1,000th career hit for Colorado. Curtis Granderson, Anthony Recker and Chris Young each drove in two runs while Daniel Murphy matched a career high with four hits and scored three times for New York.
The Rockies sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth, with Ryan Wheeler's solo shot beginning the onslaught. Charlie Blackmon, Drew Stubbs and Carlos Gonzalez posted consecutive RBI singles with one out and Tulowitzki was hit by a pitch before Arenado crushed Jenrry Mejia's first-pitch slider over the wall in left.
New York tied it at 8-8 in the sixth as Young recorded a two-out RBI double and scored on Granderson's single. Colorado's Jordan Pacheco delivered a sacrifice fly in the seventh after Arenado doubled and Tulowitzki singled before Murphy doubled with one out in the eighth and, two batters later, Young delivered an RBI single.
