Cubs 9, Rangers 2: Scott Feldman pitched seven scoreless innings against his former team and drove in a run during a five-run fourth inning as host Chicago claimed the makeup game from an April 17 rainout to snap a four-game losing streak.
Feldman (3-3) followed his first career complete game with another stellar outing, allowing two hits and one walk while winning his third straight start. He threw two pitches to David Murphy to start the eighth before leaving with an apparent cramp in his pitching hand.
Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 with his ninth home run and four RBIs and Luis Valbuena also was 3-for-4 for the Cubs, whose nine runs marked a season high.
Feldman got the fourth-inning rally started with an RBI single. Starlin Castro added a two-run single and Anthony Rizzo capped the frame with an RBI single as six straights Cubs reached base with two outs against rookie Nick Tepesch (2-3).
The Rangers, who had a three-game winning streak ended, only advanced a runner past first base once against Feldman, when Nelson Cruz singled with two outs in the fourth, stole second and took third on catcher Welington Castillo's throwing error. Feldman got Mitch Moreland to ground out to end the threat and Texas didn't have another runner in scoring position until Elvis Andrus led off the ninth with a double.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Valbuena has recorded three-hit games in two of the past four contests. He needs one more to match his career high of three in a season. … Rangers 2B Ian Kinsler went 0-for-4, snapping an 11-game hitting streak. … Rizzo extended his hitting streak to seven games, while Chicago's Alfonso Soriano had his six-game streak snapped with an 0-for-4 night. but drove in Chicago's first run. Rizzo has four three-hit games since April 26.
