Reds 6, Rangers 4 (11): Devin Mesoraco belted a two-run homer in the top of the 11th inning as visiting Cincinnati won for just the third time in 10 games.
Texas reliever Kyle McClellan (0-1) began the frame by hitting Todd Frazier with a pitch. After bunting a 1-0 pitch foul, Mesoraco drilled McClellan's next offering to left field for his fourth blast of the season.
The homer made a winner of J.J. Hoover (1-5), who recorded the final two outs of the 10th. Aroldis Chapman closed it out for his 20th save and Shin-Soo Choo went 3-for-4 with a home run for the Reds, who improved to 2-5 on their eight-game road trip.
Nelson Cruz drove in a pair of runs for the Rangers, who had their three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 8-2 over their last 10 contests.
Choo ended Cincinnati's 22-inning scoreless streak by depositing the first pitch of the game from Nick Tepesch over the center-field wall, and Brandon Phillips made it 2-0 in the third inning with an RBI single. Texas scored three runs in the bottom half while recording just one hit and the Reds answered with two in the fifth to jump back ahead before Cruz's RBI ground-rule double in the sixth forged a 4-4 tie.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Choo's home run was his fifth game-opening blast this year and the 10th of his career. It marked the second time he accomplished the feat on the Reds' current road trip (June 23 at Arizona). ... Reds starter Mike Leake allowed four runs - one earned - and three hits over seven innings. He has yielded fewer than two earned runs in seven of his last nine outings. Tepesch's winless streak reached eight starts as he surrendered four runs - three earned - and six hits in just four innings. ... Cincinnati placed RHP Johnny Cueto on the 15-day disabled list after the ace injured his right lat muscle in Friday's series opener. RHP Logan Ondrusek was recalled from Triple-A Louisville.
