Rockies 7, Diamondbacks 5: Wilin Rosario drove in four runs, including two with a double during a five-run seventh inning, as visiting Colorado held on to take the opener of the three-game series.
Charlie Blackmon added a two-run triple in the seventh while Corey Dickerson and Troy Tulowitzki had three hits apiece for the Rockies, who improved to 2-5 on their nine-game road trip.
Miguel Montero went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer and Eric Chavez plated one run and scored another for the Diamondbacks, who remained nine games behind Cincinnati for the second National League wild-card spot with 16 contests remaining.
After a wild pitch by Tyler Chatwood in the fifth inning allowed Chavez to score the tying run, Colorado got to reliever Will Harris (3-1) in the seventh. Dickerson led off by hitting a ball that bounced in front of the plate into right field for a double and scored on DJ LeMahieu's single while Rosario - who opened the scoring with a two-run single in the first - made it 5-2 with his double later in the frame.
Blackmon capped the rally with his triple off Chaz Roe as the Rockies won for just the third time in 10 games. Josh Outman (3-0) worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings and Rex Brothers recorded the final out in the ninth for his 17th save.
