Phillies 9, Diamondbacks 5: Roy Halladay tossed six solid innings in his return from the disabled list and John Mayberry Jr. belted a two-run homer as host Philadelphia rebounded from a marathon loss by seizing the rubber match of the three-game series.

Cody Asche and Roger Bernadina ripped two-run doubles while pinch hitter Chase Utley and Darin Ruf added RBI singles for the Phillies, who have won six of their last eight. The setback wrapped up a 4-6 road trip for the Diamondbacks, who remained seven games behind Cincinnati in the race for the second wild card in the National League.

After finishing a 7-hour, 6-minute marathon on Saturday, the teams wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Tony Campana led off the contest with a triple and scored on a groundout, but Halladay (3-4) yielded just one more run and three additional hits before exiting to a standing ovation. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was making his first start since May 5 before undergoing right shoulder surgery 11 days later.

Asche gave Philadelphia a 3-1 advantage in the first inning by depositing a 1-2 slider from Patrick Corbin (13-4) into right field to plate Michael Young and Erik Kratz. The teams traded run-scoring outs before Mayberry drilled a 2-0 fastball over the wall in left for his 10th homer in the fourth.

A.J. Pollock capped a three-hit performance with a three-run homer in the eighth inning to trim the Diamondbacks' deficit to 9-5. Jake Diekman struck out two in the ninth to preserve the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Utley's pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth ended the day for Corbin, who was charged with a career-high nine runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. ... Philadelphia opens a seven-game road trip by playing the first of four contests against the NL East-rival New York Mets on Monday.
