Saunders belted a two-run double in the fourth inning and a run-scoring double in the sixth. Kyle Seager hit a first-inning homer off Dan Haren (12-13) for his team-best 20th of the season.

John Jaso had a run-scoring single in the sixth as Haren allowed five runs (three earned) and seven hits in six innings. Seattle’s Jesus Montero singled home a run in the eighth.

Howie Kendrick broke up the shutout with a run-scoring single in the ninth. Angels MVP candidate Mike Trout went 1-for-5 with a stolen base. He needs one steal in the season finale to join Eric Davis (1987) and Barry Bonds (1990) as the only players to hit 30 homers and steal 50 bases in a single season.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles OF Torii Hunter didn’t play after experiencing dehydration issues on Monday when the Angels were eliminated from the postseason race. … The Mariners announced they will move in the outfield fences for next season with most of the changes occurring between the power alleys. … Angels LHP C.J. Wilson will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove bone spurs from his pitching elbow.
