Brewers 10, Diamondbacks 2: Ryan Braun homered twice and rookie Michael Fiers scattered two hits and struck out 10 over six solid innings as host Milwaukee mauled Arizona.
Cody Ransom burned his former team with a three-run homer to highlight a six-run fourth inning. Carlos Gomez also went deep and added an RBI triple as the Brewers won for just the second time in seven outings.
After Milwaukee scratched for a run in the second inning, Braun doubled the advantage in the third by depositing a low fastball from rookie Wade Miley (9-4) over the wall in center. The blast was Braun's first since June 20.
Ransom gave the Brewers some breathing room with his second homer in as many contests before Braun capped the six-run uprising and drove Miley from the game with a two-run shot.
Miley was thwarted in his bid to become the first National League rookie in a decade to record 10 wins before the All-Star break. He yielded eight runs on as many hits in 3 2/3 innings.
The offensive onslaught was more than enough for Fiers (3-2) to post his first victory at Miller Park this season.
Miguel Montero belted a solo shot in the ninth inning for the Diamondbacks.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Corey Hart opened the scoring in the second inning after Rickie Weeks reached first base following a wild pitch on a strikeout. ... Ransom played in 29 games with Arizona spanning parts of the 2011-12 seasons. ... Had Miley been victorious, he would have become the first rookie to win at least 10 games since Kazuhisa Ishii posted an 11-5 mark with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002.
