Rockies 4, Cubs 3: Andrew Brown crushed his first major-league homer to tie the game and rookie DJ LeMahieu scored the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice in the seventh inning as visiting Colorado overcame a three-run deficit.
Josh Rutledge belted a pinch-hit two-run homer and rookie Jordan Pacheco collected two hits for the Rockies, who have won 10 of their last 13.
After Brown launched a towering shot in the sixth inning that sailed over the wall in left field and landed on Waveland Avenue, Carlos Gonzalez showed some hustle to give the Rockies a 4-3 lead. Gonzalez raced down the line to prevent an inning-ending double play as LeMahieu scored the deciding run in the seventh.
Carlos Torres (3-1) relieved starter Alex White and yielded just one hit and struck out two in 2 1/3 innings. Two more hurlers bridged the gap to Rafael Betancourt, who retired the side in the ninth for his 26th save.
Rookie Brett Jackson belted his second homer in as many games and Alfonso Soriano scored on an error in the fourth inning for the Cubs, who fell to the Rockies for just the fourth time in 17 meetings at Wrigley Field.
Manuel Corpas (0-1), who pitched five seasons with the Rockies, permitted two runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings to take the loss.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rookie Brooks Raley, who was making his fourth career start, was recalled from Triple-A Iowa prior to the contest. Raley permitted two runs on five hits in five innings but did not pick up a decision. ... The Cubs optioned LHP Chris Rusin back to the farm club. ... White remained winless since June 3, exiting after four innings.
