Indians 8, Royals 5: Shin-Soo Choo had two hits and two RBIs and Jason Kipnis drove in three runs to power Cleveland past visiting Kansas City in the Indians' first game under interim manager Sandy Alomar Jr.
Cord Phelps and Lonnie Chisenhall each added three hits and an RBI and Ezequiel Carrera had three hits and scored three runs for the Indians, who have won three straight for the first time since July 3-5.
Indians starter David Huff (3-0) struck out five and allowed three runs on eight hits over six innings to beat Kansas City for the second time in six days. Chris Perez worked the ninth for his 39th save.
Cleveland had an 8-1 lead through five innings before the Royals rallied against the bullpen. Billy Butler's 29th homer - a two-run shot in the sixth - cut into the lead, and Salvador Perez added a two-run single in the eighth to make it 8-5.
Royals starter Will Smith (6-9) was tagged for six runs on nine hits over three innings, snapping a streak of 12 straight starts allowing four earned runs or less.
