Royals 6, Indians 3: Mike Moustakas drove in a pair of runs and Brayan Pena had two hits and two RBIs as host Kansas City extended its winning streak against Cleveland to six games.
Irving Falu added two hits and an RBI for the Royals, who have won six straight versus the Indians for the first time since 1978. Kansas City has captured eight of its last nine meetings with Cleveland.
Pena opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI single and closed it in the eighth with a run-scoring double. Moustakas gave the Royals a 3-1 lead with a sacrifice fly in the third and extended the advantage with an RBI groundout two frames later.
Luis Mendoza (8-9) allowed two runs and eight hits in six innings en route to his first victory since Aug. 17. Greg Holland worked a perfect ninth for his 15th save in 18 opportunities.
Justin Masterson (11-15) yielded four runs and seven hits over six frames as he lost for the fifth time in seven starts. Carlos Santana had a two-run single for the Indians, who have lost 41 of their last 54 contests.
