Twins 7, Indians 4:
Joe Mauer and Trevor Plouffe each homered and drove in three runs as visiting Minnesota won for the fourth time in five games.

After watching the Indians come back from an early 4-0 deficit to tie the game in the fifth inning, the Twins regained the lead in the sixth on Plouffe’s one-out solo homer off Josh Tomlin (2-3). Mauer followed with a two-run shot to right-center field in the seventh, stretching the margin back to three.

Plouffe capped Minnesota’s four-run first inning with a two-run single, following up RBI base hits by Mauer and Justin Morneau. Cleveland crawled back with single runs in four of the first five frames, tying the score when Michael Brantley singled for his second RBI of the night.

Brian Duensing (1-2) pitched two innings of perfect relief for the win, coming into a tie game with one out in the fifth and stranding two Indians on base. Jared Burton struck out the only two hitters he faced in the seventh inning and Glen Perkins pitched a 1-2-3 eighth to set up Matt Capps, who worked around a one-out single to collect his 11th save.

Tomlin gave up five runs on 10 hits in six innings, striking out three and walking one.

P.J. Walters started but went just 4 1/3 innings for Minnesota, giving up four runs on eight hits and three walks.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
The Indians have lost six of eight to fall a game and a half behind Chicago in the American League Central. ... Brantley extended his hitting streak to 11 games, the longest by a Cleveland player this year. ... Indians LF Johnny Damon, who scored a run in the fourth inning, will be going on paternity leave.
