White Sox 5, Indians 4: Adam Dunn hit his second home run of the game with two outs in the eighth inning, a three-run shot that helped host Chicago end its five-game losing streak and maintain its lead in the American League Central.
Dunn launched a two-out solo blast off Cleveland starter Zach McAllister in the sixth to draw the White Sox within 3-2. With two on and two down in the eighth, the slugger deposited an 0-2 pitch from Vinnie Pestano (3-3) into the right-center field seats for his 41st of the year and a 5-3 lead.
Kevin Youkilis recorded two hits and Alexei Ramirez drove in a run for Chicago, which remained one game ahead of Detroit in the Central.
Brett Myers (3-3) tossed one scoreless inning in relief of starter Chris Sale, who yielded three runs and 10 hits in seven frames. Matt Thornton gave up a run in the ninth before Donnie Veal recorded the final out for his first career save.
Russ Canzler hit a two-run homer while Shin-Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera each had two hits and an RBI for the Indians, who have lost nine of 13 meetings with the White Sox this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: McAllister was in line for his first victory since Aug. 11 before Pestano's implosion as he allowed two runs and four hits while striking out seven in six innings. ... The Indians have lost 12 of their last 16 games. ... White Sox LHP Hector Santiago could get the start in Wednesday's series finale, giving RHP Jake Peavy an extra day of rest. Peavy then would start the opener of a four-game series against Tampa Bay on Thursday.
