Mets 3, Dodgers 2: Andres Torres snapped a tie with an RBI double in the fifth inning as visiting New York handed Los Angeles its fifth consecutive loss.
David Wright homered and drove in two runs while Chris Young tossed 6 1/3 solid innings for the Mets, who have won two straight following a four-game losing streak.
After the Dodgers ended a 33-inning scoreless stretch with two runs in the fourth to tie the contest, New York answered quickly against former Mets left-hander Chris Capuano (9-3). Mike Nickeas hit a one-out single, moved to second on a sacrifice and raced home on Torres' double for a 3-2 lead.
Young (2-1) allowed two runs and six hits while striking out six without a walk. The right-hander, who improved to 2-4 lifetime at Dodger Stadium, has yielded three runs or less in each of his five starts since returning from shoulder surgery.
Tim Byrdak and Jon Rauch bridged the gap to Bobby Parnell, who worked a perfect ninth for his first save of the year. Parnell is filling in for injured closer Frank Francisco.
Los Angeles lost for the ninth time in 10 games to fall out of first place in
the National League West. The Dodgers trail San Francisco by one game.
Capuano surrendered three runs and five hits in seven innings en route to his first loss in five starts. The veteran struck out five without a walk and fell to 5-1 at home.
Elian Herrera and Juan Rivera each had two hits and an RBI for the Dodgers.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wright's homer was his first in 17 games. His last blast came on June 9 against the New York Yankees. ... The Dodgers reportedly have agreed to terms on a seven-year, $42 million contract with OF Yasiel Puig, a 21-year-old Cuban prospect. ... Los Angeles OF Andre Ethier is likely to avoid a stint on the disabled last as an MRI revealed no swelling to his strained left oblique.
