Mets 5, Phillies 2: Jason Bay and Scott Hairston connected for home runs against Phillies left-hander Cliff Lee, and Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey made it hold up for his second win in two starts.
Bay blasted a two-run homer following Daniel Murphy's RBI double in the three-run first, and Hairston added a solo shot in the fifth for the visiting Mets.
Dickey (2-0) recorded his 14th consecutive quality start dating to last July, allowing one run on nine hits while striking out seven over seven innings.
Bobby Parnell pitched a scoreless eighth and closer Frank Francisco struck out the side in the ninth in a non-save situation, allowing an unearned run.
Philadelphia's first run came on rookie second baseman Freddy Galvis' first major-league home run in the third.
The Phillies had five more hits than the Mets but were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight runners on base.
Lee (0-1) allowed five hits over seven innings but the four runs sent him to his first loss in four starts against the Mets. He had never allowed more than one earned run in a start against New York.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The last time Lee allowed multiple home runs in a game was July 3, 2011, when he gave up three homers at Toronto. … Bay's home run was his first since Sept. 8, 2011. His power numbers have dropped off dramatically since signing with the Mets after the 2009 season. … The Mets were without third baseman David Wright for the third consecutive game because of a fractured right pinky.
