Phillies 3, Marlins 1: Jimmy Rollins belted a two-run homer to snap a tie with two outs in the seventh inning and make a winner out of Cliff Lee as host Philadelphia secured its season-high seventh straight victory.
John Mayberry Jr. had a two-out RBI single in the sixth inning for the Phillies, who posted their 15th win in 19 games by completing a sweep of cellar-dwelling Miami. The victory, combined with the Cardinals' 3-2 loss to San Diego, moved Philadelphia within three games of St. Louis in the race for the second wild card.
After two quick outs in the seventh, Pete Orr pinch hit for Lee and singled to right field to extend the inning. Orr promptly stole second and was able to walk home as Rollins crushed an offering from Josh Johnson (8-12) into the seats in right field. The homer was Rollins' team-leading 19th of the season - and second in as many games.
Lee (5-7) was credited with just his second victory this season at Citizens Bank Park. The veteran southpaw allowed one run on four hits and struck out six.
Phillippe Aumont worked a scoreless eighth inning to bridge the gap to Jonathan Papelbon, who struck out the side in the ninth for his 34th save.
Miami opened the scoring in the sixth inning - with a major assist from some shoddy defensive play by the Phillies. Donovan Solano reached first base on Rollins' error and advanced to second on Lee's throwing error. Two batters later, Carlos Lee singled to shallow right to plate Solano for his 68th RBI.
Johnson retired 12 in a row before Rollins led off the sixth inning with a single to shallow right field. Rollins advanced to second on a sacrifice and Mayberry followed three batters later with an RBI single to shallow center field.
