Phillies 9, Marlins 7: Jimmy Rollins hit his team-leading 18th home run and had three RBIs and three runs scored to help Philadelphia reach the .500 mark for the first time since June 4 and continue its climb up the National League wild card standings.
Juan Pierre and Chase Utley added three hits apiece for the Phillies, who have won six straight and 10 of 12 to move within four games of St. Louis for the second wild card.
Roy Halladay (10-7) was not at his sharpest, allowing five runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings, but received enough support to win his fourth straight decision. The Phillies' bullpen faced some difficulty getting the ball to closer Jonathan Papelbon, but he had no trouble in the ninth inning, striking out two in a 1-2-3 inning for his 33rd save.
The Phillies broke it open with three runs in the sixth, capped by Rollins' two-run homer. The at-bat should have ended, but catcher Rob Brantly dropped a foul pop and Rollins launched the next pitch over the right-field wall to make it 8-3.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his team-leading 34th homer and Justin Ruggiano had two hits and two RBIs for the Marlins, who scored four runs in the seventh to chase Halladay and get within 8-7. Rollins then lifted a sacrifice fly in the seventh for an insurance run.
Miami had runners at second and third with one out in the eighth, but right-hander Phillippe Aumont struck out Ruggiano and Jose Reyes to end the threat.
Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi (4-12) lost his fourth straight start. He allowed five runs on eight hits in four-plus innings.
