Indians 8, Red Sox 3: Michael Brantley had a career-high four hits - including a two-run double in the third inning - and Derek Lowe tossed six solid frames to burn his former team as visiting Cleveland handed Boston its eighth loss in nine games.

Jack Hannahan belted a two-run homer and Jason Kipnis also went deep as the Indians snapped a two-game skid and won for the seventh time in 10 contests.

After Shin-Soo Choo ripped an RBI double to right center in the third inning, Brantley gave Cleveland a 7-1 lead with a two-run double to the gap in left-center.

The early onslaught led to a premature exit for Josh Beckett (2-4), who was booed mightily by the faithful at Fenway Park. Beckett, who allowed seven runs on as many hits in 2 1/3 innings, recorded his shortest outing since August 2008 versus Toronto.

The offensive explosion was more than enough for Lowe (5-1), who allowed two runs on nine hits against the club with which he won the 2004 World Series. Four relievers kept the Red Sox in check to preserve the victory.

Dustin Pedroia belted a solo homer, Daniel Nava had a run-scoring double and Mike Aviles added an RBI single for Boston.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Red Sox played without a public address announcer as a tribute to Carl Beane, who died on Wednesday after having a heart attack while driving. ... Beckett missed his previous start on Saturday with a strained lat muscle. A Boston-based radio station reported that Beckett was spotted playing golf as opposed to resting. ... Hannahan returned to the lineup after missing Wednesday's game with a left groin injury.
