Red Sox 1, White Sox 0: Jon Lester pitched seven scoreless innings for his first victory as Boston scratched out a run against Jake Peavy to win its sixth straight game - all on the road.

The Red Sox, who had scored 53 runs in their previous six games, rode Lester on a windy, 46 degree night in Chicago. He allowed five hits and struck out seven in handing the White Sox their fifth straight loss.

Lester (1-2), who is 77-36 lifetime, had gone eight straight starts without a victory since a 14-0 win over Toronto on Sept. 6, 2011.

Adrian Gonzalez's one-out single in the fourth drove in Ryan Sweeney, who hit a leadoff double, as Boston improved to 10-10.

Peavy (3-1) was a tough-luck loser. He allowed four hits, struck out seven and retired the last 13 batters in his second consecutive complete game and 11th of his career.

Lester set down eight straight until Paul Konerko's one-out double in the fourth. The White Sox put runners at first and second with one out in the seventh before Lester retired Brett Morel and Gordon Beckham on fielder's choice grounders.

Franklin Morales and Vicente Padilla combined to pitch a scoreless eighth and Alfredo Aceves worked a perfect ninth for his fifth save in seven chances.
