Mets 5, Orioles 0: R.A. Dickey became the first pitcher in 24 years to toss consecutive one-hit complete-game gems and Ike Davis belted his first career grand slam as host New York snapped a three-game losing skid.
Dickey (11-1) allowed Wilson Betemit's two-out single in the fifth inning, but shut the door from there to match Toronto hurler Dave Stieb's feat in 1988. The veteran knuckleballer, who improved to 9-0 in his last 11 outings, set a career high with 13 strikeouts to mark the seventh straight start that he has fanned at least eight batters.
After the Mets loaded the bases in the sixth inning, Davis snapped a scoreless game by depositing a first-pitch fastball from Jake Arrieta (3-9) over the wall in left center. Davis' seventh homer extended his hitting streak to nine games - while his four RBIs were a career high.
The blast ended Baltimore's scoreless innings streak at 25 games.
David Wright extended his hitting streak to nine games with an RBI single in the eighth inning. Wright's infield single plated Jordany Valdespin, who was aboard after ripping his first career triple.
Arrieta, who was done in by one big inning, permitted four runs on six hits in seven innings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Reigning Masters champion Bubba Watson was in attendance. ... After visiting a doctor on Monday, New York outfielder Jason Bay will return for a follow-up as he deals with a concussion. ... Davis' grand slam was the second by a member of the Mets this season. Mike Nickeas also accomplished the feat last month. ... Baltimore, which saw its modest two-game winning streak come to an end, fell to 9-4 in interleague play.
