Matt Kemp homered and Clayton Kershaw threw eight dominant innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers cruised to a 6-1 victory over the visiting Houston Astros on Saturday.

Kershaw (14-5) extended his home winning streak to eight games. He allowed six hits, one walk and struck out nine.

Kemp blasted his 27th home run in the first inning off Wandy Rodriguez (8-9), who allowed five runs - two earned - over six innings.

The Dodgers’ Justin Sellers singled in the fifth for his first major league hit, and Tony Gwynn Jr. added three hits and two stolen bases.

Houston, which lost its fifth straight game, snapped its 19-inning scoreless streak with J.D. Martinez’s run-scoring single in the eighth.
