Jose Altuve and Matt Downs each had three hits and Houston matched its season high of 16 as the visiting Astros rolled to a 9-1 victory over the host Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday.

J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer and Wandy Rodriguez (8-8) pitched six shutout innings as the Astros scored their most runs since June 26 and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Rodriguez gave up just two hits while snapping a four-game personal losing streak against the Diamondbacks. He struck out five and walked four.

Henry Blanco homered in the seventh for Arizona, which has lost four of five games.

Houston rocked Arizona starter Daniel Hudson (11-8) with five first-inning runs. The right-handed hitting Martinez hit his three-run blast to right field and Carlos Corporan hit a long two-run double off the glove of Arizona right fielder Justin Upton.

Downs’ run-scoring double and Clint Barmes’ infield single increased Houston’s lead to 7-0 in the second. The Astros had 10 hits through two innings.

Jimmy Paredes delivered a two-run single in the sixth to make it 9-0 as Houston posted its highest output since losing 14-10 to Tampa Bay on June 26.

Hudson allowed seven runs – four earned – and 11 hits in three innings.
