Cliff Lee struck out 10 batters in seven shutout innings and Placido Polanco and Ryan Howard collected RBI singles in the third to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.

Carlos Ruiz ended an 0-for-16 slump with a pair of hits - including an RBI double in the eighth inning - for Philadelphia, which has rebounded to win two in a row after dropping four straight.

Lee (5-5) fanned seven of 10 batters at one point, including the side in the sixth inning. The lefthander allowed seven hits - all singles - but managed to post his third win in four outings.

Antonio Bastardo retired the side in order in the eighth inning and Ryan Madson permitted a run in the ninth before converting his 13th save opportunity in as many chances this season.

Polanco opened the scoring after depositing Ted Lilly's breaking ball into shallow center field to plate Wilson Valdez. Two batters later, Howard doubled the advantage after ripping a single past the shift and into right field to bring in Shane Victorino.

Jamey Carroll recorded three hits and highly-touted prospect Dee Gordon scored in his major-league debut for Los Angeles, which entered Monday's contest having scored 20 runs in its last two games.

Lilly (4-5) suffered the hard-luck loss after permitting two runs on five hits in six innings.
