Alex Gonzalez belted a solo home run in the fourth inning and Tommy Hanson pitched six shutout innings as the visiting Atlanta Braves defeated the Florida Marlins 1-0 Tuesday night.

It was the first home run and RBI for Gonzalez since May 8. Martin Prado had the only other Braves hit in the ninth.

Hanson (7-4), who has won six of his last seven decisions, escaped a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the sixth by getting Mike Stanton to ground into a fielder’s choice. He allowed just two hits.

Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth for his 18th save.

It was the eighth loss in nine games for the Marlins, who left 10 on base and were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Florida starter Brad Hand (0-1), making his major league debut after being recalled from Double-A Jacksonville, allowed only Gonzalez’s home run over six innings. The 21-year old struck out six and walked one, throwing 100 pitches.

Chris Coghlan was on base four of five times for Florida with a double and three walks.
