John Buck’s RBI single in the seventh inning drove in the go-ahead run and lifted the Florida Marlins to a 6-5 win over the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field on Thursday.
Brian Sanches (2-0) pitched one scoreless inning to pick up the win and Leo Nunez tossed a scoreless ninth to earn his fourth save of the season.
Eric O’Flaherty (0-1) permitted one run on three hits in one-third of an inning to suffer the loss.
Florida scored three runs in the first on doubles by Mike Stanton and Logan Morrison, but the Braves answered with four in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Chipper Jones and a three-run homer by Brian McCann.
Florida tied the game on an RBI single by Hanley Ramirez in the second and took the lead on a solo homer by Gaby Sanchez in the third. Atlanta tied the game in the fourth when Dan Uggla belted a solo homer, his third blast of the season.
The game remained tied 5-5 until the seventh when Buck slapped a single off O’Flaherty to center field that scored Sanchez.
