Brandon Inge hit a one-out home run in bottom of the ninth inning to give the Detroit Tigers a 3-2 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers Wednesday afternoon.

Brennan Boesch and Will Rhymes each had two hits for the Tigers (5-7), who have won consecutive games for the first time this season. Jose Valverde (2-0) got the victory for the second straight day by pitching a scoreless ninth.

Michael Young extended his hitting streak against the Tigers to 15 games with a third-inning double. Julio Borbon and Nelson Cruz each had two hits for the Rangers (9-3). Darren Oliver (1-1) got the loss for Texas.

Detroit starter Max Scherzer gave up two hits and no runs through five, but Texas scored twice in the sixth to break a scoreless tie. Cruz and David Murphy hit RBI singles for a 2-0 lead. Scherzer was replaced after throwing 113 pitches in six innings.

The Tigers came back to tie it in the bottom of the sixth. Victor Martinez led off with a double and scored on Boesch’s double. Boesch later scored on Inge’s sacrifice fly.

Texas starter Dave Bush threw 71 pitches in three innings, allowing three hits and three walks.
