Ryan Adams singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the host Baltimore Orioles rallied to beat Toronto 6-5 on Tuesday in the opener of their three-game series.

The Orioles prevailed in dramatic fashion after going into their half of the 10th down by a run. Jake Fox singled in the tying run off losing pitcher Brian Tallet (0-1), and Adams followed by lacing a hit to right-center that brought home Mark Reynolds, who had reached on a walk.

Kelly Johnson tripled and scored on a wild pitch by Willie Eyre (1-0) to give the Blue Jays a 5-4 lead in the top half of the 10th, after Toronto tied it in the ninth on Yunel Escobar's sacrifice fly.

Matt Wieters crushed his 15th home run for the Orioles, who have won seven of nine.

Toronto (67-68) has dropped five of six and is in danger of finishing below .500 for the second time in six years. With manager John Farrell still recovering from pneumonia, the Blue Jays were managed by bench coach Don Wakamatsu.

Wieters blasted a two-run shot to dead center in the second. Brett Lawrie hit a three-run home in the sixth for the Blue Jays.
