Kershaw allowed just one run over 7 1/3 innings while winning his third consecutive decision. One of those victories came against the Padres last Saturday when he allowed just one run and three hits.

Kershaw (4-2) gave up seven hits Thursday while striking out seven and walking two as the Dodgers moved into second place in the National League West, one game behind the Padres.

Jonathan Broxton worked the ninth for his eighth save.

The Dodgers broke open a tie game with a three-run sixth inning. Garret Anderson’s sacrifice fly made it 2-1 and Jamey Carroll had a run-scoring single.

Blake DeWitt scored the final run of the inning on Kevin Correia’s wild pitch.

Carroll had two RBIs, also driving in a run with a second-inning sacrifice fly. Will Venable had an RBI-single in the third inning for the Padres.
