The Houston Astros broke a tie with six runs in the seventh inning and rolled to a 10-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.
Chris Johnson drove in three runs and Carlos Lee added a pair of RBIs as Houston snapped a four-game losing streak.
With things knotted at 4, Jeff Keppinger got the Astros’ scoring streak started in the seventh with an RBI single, followed by a run-scoring single from Lee. Then with the bases loaded, Johnson singled to left and eventually scored on the play after Braves catcher Brian McCann threw the ball into the left-field corner trying to get Lee out at third.
Houston reliever Tim Byrdak (2-1) earned the victory by retiring one batter.
The Braves had jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game after Alex Gonzalez had an RBI double in the second and Jason Heyward belted a solo shot in the third.
The Astros answered in the fourth with three runs, highlighted by RBI doubles from Lee and Brett Wallace, and an RBI single from Johnson.
The Braves regained the lead in the sixth with a two-run blast from McCann, but the Astros tied it in the bottom half, scoring a run on a Braves’ throwing error.
Kyle Farnsworth (3-1) took the loss in allowing four runs in one-third of an inning.
