Ricky Romero tossed a complete-game five-hitter and Jose Bautista homered twice as the Toronto Blue Jays cruised past the Texas Rangers, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Romero (4-1) kept the Rangers off-balance throughout, allowing just five singles and a walk while striking out 12. It was his first career complete game, and the 12 strikeouts moved him into a tie for the American League lead with Los Angeles Angels ace Jered Weaver.
Bautista provided more than enough offense for his hurler, blasting a solo home run in the fifth inning and a game-clinching three-run shot in the eighth. Bautista finished with five RBIs, matching his season high set Apr. 18 against Kansas City.
Adam Lind added a run-scoring double in the first inning as the Blue Jays won for the 12th time in the last 16 games.
Scott Feldman (1-4) continued his early-season struggles, allowing five runs on nine hits in 7 1/3 innings. Feldman, a 17-game winner last season, is 0-4 over his last six outings.
The teams combined to surrender just two walks, one day after issuing 17 free passes in Toronto's series-opening 16-10 victory.
