Sean Rodriguez had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs as the Tampa Bay Rays rolled to a 12-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.
The Rays made life difficult for Chicago starter Mark Buehrle, who pitched a perfect game against them on July 23 of last season.
The Rays ended any suspense quickly as B.J. Upton doubled with one out in the second before Tampa Bay scored six times in the next three innings off Buehrle (2-2), who didn't get out of the fifth and was charged with six runs.
Jason Bartlett's RBI single in the third got Tampa Bay going. A four-run third followed, highlighted by RBI singles from Upton, Gabe Kapler and Rodriguez and a sacrifice fly by Pat Burrell. Carlos Pena's sacrifice fly in the fifth closed the scoring on Buehrle.
Rodriguez's three-run homer was the biggest hit in a six-run sixth. Bartlett and Evan Longoria finished the game with three hits apiece.
The runs made for an easy night for Wade Davis (1-1), who held the White Sox to two hits and struck out six in six innings.
