Evan Longoria had two hits and drove in two runs to lift the Tampa Bay Rays to a 5-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday afternoon.
Longoria drove in the winning run with a bases loaded walk in the sixth inning. He also hit a solo home run in the first, his 14th of the season, to give the Rays an early lead.
Ben Zobrist, Willy Aybar and Reid Brignac each tallied an RBI for the Rays, who took the three-game series.
Tampa Bay added two runs in the second inning and another in the third to grab a 4-0 lead before Baltimore fought back.
Ty Wigginton hit a two-run homer to highlight Baltimore’s three-run fourth and the Orioles tied it with a run in the fifth on a groundout by Luke Scott.
James Shields (8-9) earned the win, yielding four runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. Rafael Soriano picked up his 24th save with a perfect ninth.
Baltimore starter Brad Bergesen (3-8) took the loss after allowing five runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.
