Mets 5, Dodgers 3: Juan Lagares delivered the go-ahead single in the seventh inning and Eric Campbell's diving catch preserved the lead as host New York edged Los Angeles to avoid a three-game sweep.

Jonathon Niese (3-3) pitched seven solid innings and also drove in a run for the Mets, who became the first team to score three runs against Zack Greinke since July 25. A double play sparked by Campbell's grab in left field helped Daisuke Matsuzaka get through the eighth, and Curtis Granderson's RBI triple created additional cushion for closer Jenrry Mejia, who pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his second save.

The Dodgers finished with only five hits, one of which was a game-tying, two-run homer by Jacob Turner in the seventh. The highlight of the night for Los Angeles was right fielder Yasiel Puig's incredible diving catch in the gap in the second inning, although Puig – representing the tying run – was doubled off second after Campbell's catch in the eighth.

Greinke, who had not allowed more than two runs in any of his previous 24 starts – including the playoffs – watched that streak come to an end in the fifth. Niese delivered an RBI double for his first hit of the season, putting the Mets ahead 2-1 before an error by Turner allowed Niese to come home.

Turner's two-run blast against Niese bailed out Greinke, who allowed three runs – one earned – on four hits in five innings. It also made a winner of Niese, who gave up three runs and four hits and earned his first victory of the month thanks to Lagares' opposite-field base hit on an 0-2 pitch against Chris Perez (0-2).

GAME NOTEBOOK: Greinke's regular-season streak of 21 straight starts allowing two runs or fewer had tied Rogers Clemens' major-league record from 1990-91. ... Campbell, who entered Thursday 7-for-16 to begin his major-league career, got his first career start in left field and had a sacrifice fly in four plate appearances. ... Granderson and 3B David Wright each had two hits for New York, which improved to 6-14 in May.
