Dodgers 8, Rockies 0: Clayton Kershaw pitched his first no-hitter and struck out a career-high 15 as Los Angeles recorded its first home sweep of the season.
Kershaw (7-2) won his fourth straight start while registering the second no-hitter in the majors this season - and 22nd in Dodgers history - after teammate Josh Beckett's gem in a 6-0 victory at Philadelphia on May 25. Corey Dickerson was the the only Rockie to reach - on shortstop Hanley Ramirez's throwing error to lead off the seventh.
Rookie third baseman Miguel Rojas preserved the no-hitter when he threw out Troy Tulowitzki from behind the bag for the second out of the seventh. Rojas delivered a three-run double for Los Angeles, which moved within four games of first-place San Francisco in the National League West with its fifth victory in six games.
Red-hot Matt Kemp recorded three hits and two RBIs while Adrian Gonzalez also drove in a pair of runs. Jorge De La Rosa (6-6) lost his third straight decision after allowing eight runs (seven earned) and six hits in 3 1/3 innings while all five batters he walked scored as Colorado lost its third straight game after winning five in a row.
The Dodgers scored five runs in the third - all with two out - as Yasiel Puig walked, and Gonzalez and Kemp followed with back-to-back doubles down the left-field line. Scott Van Slyke and A.J. Ellis walked to load the bases before Rojas ripped a 1-0 fastball over the head of left fielder Dickerson to make it 7-0.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kemp is hitting .432 with 12 RBIs in his last 13 contests to help Los Angeles go 9-4 during that span. ... De La Rosa, who had won three of his previous four starts against the Dodgers, fell to 3-10 with a 6.26 ERA versus Los Angeles. ... The Dodgers have gained 5 1/2 games on the Giants in 11 days.
