Blue Jays 5, Tigers 3: Jose Bautista's RBI single ignited a five-run ninth inning and Brett Lawrie's three-run homer capped the explosion as visiting Toronto won for the 15th time in its last 18 games.

Anthony Gose led off a scoreless game in the ninth against closer Joe Nathan (2-2) with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on Jose Reyes' single to left - Toronto's first hit since the fourth. After Melky Cabrera popped out, Bautista's bouncer up the middle eluded shortstop Andrew Romine and second baseman Ian Kinsler.

Nathan walked Edwin Encarnacion and pinch-hitter Kevin Pillar greeted Ian Krol with a sacrifice fly to center before Lawrie belted Al Alburquerque's 2-1 offering out to right. Drew Hutchison allowed three hits and struck out seven in seven scoreless innings while Dustin McGowan (3-2) earned the victory by pitching a perfect eighth.

Detroit's Anibal Sanchez yielded two hits and struck out five in seven scoreless innings - lowering his ERA to 1.32 in four starts since returning from the disabled list. J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer with two outs in the ninth for the Tigers, who fell to 8-2 against the American League East this season after recording only four hits.

Casey Janssen recorded his ninth save after he struck out Don Kelly on three pitches after Steve Delabar yielded Martinez's homer. Juan Francisco led off the third with a double but was thrown out at third base by first baseman Miguel Cabrera on Dioner Navarro's grounder as neither team had a runner advance to third until the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Detroit DH Victor Martinez reached on infield single in the fourth before Hutchison and Sanchez combined to retire their final 17 batters. ... Blue Jays pitchers set down 14 consecutive batters at one point while the Tigers retired 13 in a row. ... Sanchez has not allowed a homer this season in 50 1/3 innings - the most for any pitcher which hasn't allowed a long ball.
