Josh Tomlin (2-0) allowed two runs, six hits and did not walk a batter over six innings to win his second straight since being recalled and Bryan Shaw notched his second save with 1-2-3 ninth. Yan Gomes had two hits, including a solo homer, and Carlos Santana added a double and a single as Cleveland improved to 7-3 in May.

Matt Joyce belted a solo homer in the first inning and added an RBI single in the fourth while Evan Longoria had two hits for the Rays, who dropped five of six on their homestand. Tampa Bay’s Chris Archer (2-2) yielded four runs, eight hits and four walks over five-plus innings and has won only once in his last seven starts.

An RBI infield single by Morgan and Bourn’s two-run double into the right-field corner gave the Indians a 3-1 in the second inning. Gomes’ solo blast fell just inside the left-field foul pole to open the sixth before Morgan reached on a bunt single and scored on Mike Aviles sacrifice fly later in the frame for a 5-2 lead.

Morgan hit the first pitch he saw from Brandon Gomes into the right-field seats in the eighth for his first homer. The Rays made it 6-5 in their half of the eighth, helped by a throwing error from pitcher Marc Rzepczynski, as James Loney (fielder’s choice), Wil Myers (single) and Yunel Escobar (sacrifice fly) had RBIs.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Indians OF Michael Brantley’s single in the third inning extended his hitting streak to 11 games, the longest for the club this season. … Tampa Bay OF-DH David DeJesus was 6-for-13 with three RBIs in the series. … The Rays start a seven-game road trip out west against Seattle on Monday and Cleveland visits Toronto on Tuesday to begin a three-game set.
