White Sox 6, Indians 2: Dayan Viciedo slammed a three-run homer and Conor Gillaspie went 4-for-4 with an RBI double to lift host Chicago in the opener of a three-game series.

Alexei Ramirez and Alejandro De Aza delivered run-scoring singles as the White Sox rebounded from back-to-back losses to the New York Yankees over the weekend. Jose Quintana (3-4) gave up two runs over six innings to improve to 3-0 lifetime against Cleveland.

Michael Brantley and Ryan Raburn each had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Indians, who dropped to 2-3 on their seven-game road trip. Josh Tomlin (3-2) had his first poor outing despite striking out a season-high eight, yielding five runs (two earned) in five-plus innings.

Viciedo erased Brantley's third-inning RBI single with a towering three-run shot in the bottom of the frame for a 3-1 lead - an inning kept alive by third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall's two-out error. Raburn singled in a run in the sixth but Chicago chased Tomlin when Gillaspie led off the bottom of the inning with a double and Viciedo followed with a single to put runners at the corners with none out.

Josh Outman came on to strike out Adam Dunn but Ramirez and De Aza greeted reliever Bryan Shaw with consecutive RBI singles to make it 5-2. Gillaspie's third double of the day added an insurance run in the seventh before Scott Downs struck out David Murphy to end a bases-loaded threat in the eighth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brantley extended his hitting streak to 12 games with his third-inning single but CF Michael Bourn and Chisenhall had their hitting streaks halted at nine and eight games, respectively. ... White Sox C Tyler Flowers was ejected for the first time in his career in the bottom of the fourth inning for arguing a called third strike and was replaced by Adrián Nieto. ... White Sox 1B Jose Abreu, on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle injury, went through his first day of baseball activities Monday since he was placed in a walking boot. He led the majors in homers and RBIs before going on the DL.
