Phillies 5, Braves 2:
Ryan Howard homered in his second straight contest and Kyle Kendrick tossed seven solid innings as visiting Philadelphia secured a series victory over Atlanta.

Cesar Hernandez had an RBI single among his two hits and Domonic Brown scored on a passed ball as the Phillies posted their sixth win in eight contests. Jimmy Rollins doubled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.

After belting a solo shot in Monday's 13-inning victory, Howard continued his hot hand in the first inning by depositing a 3-2 fastball from Ervin Santana (5-4) over the wall in left-center field for a two-run homer. The blast was Howard's team-leading 13th of the season - and second off Santana.

Brown scored after catcher Gerald Laird was unable to corral an offering from Santana in the fourth and Hernandez gave Philadelphia a 4-0 advantage by plating Reid Brignac with a single to center. Santana permitted four runs (three earned) on eight hits in six innings to take the loss.

Kendrick (3-6) allowed Jason Heyward's two-out RBI single in the fifth inning and induced a double-play ball as Atlanta scored its other run in the seventh. The right-hander scattered six hits and struck out as many before Jonathan Papelbon retired the side in the ninth for his 16th save to hand the Braves their ninth loss in 14 games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kendrick snapped an eight-game losing skid on the road and improved to 8-2 in his career versus Atlanta - including 4-0 all-time at Turner Field. ... Brignac (2-for-5) recorded his third straight multi-hit performance to improve to 7-for-15 in that stretch. ... Braves C Evan Gattis, who is riding a career-high 16-game hit streak, did not play (rest) but 2B Tommy La Stella went 0-for-4 to see his seven-game run come to an end.
