Preview Roundups
December 22, 2015
St. Louis at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins have skyrocketed up the standings on the strength of a sizzling 11-1-3 run. Coach Claude Julien looks to keep the fire lit underneath his red-hot club when it hosts the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
Anaheim at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers are in a free fall and hope a visit from another struggling and supposed Stanley Cup contender can stop them from reaching rock bottom when they meet the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. New York has been outscored 17-7 during its three-game losing streak and is 3-9-2 in its last 14 games following a 7-3 loss Sunday to first-place Washington, which scored the final six goals to increase its lead to 10 points over the third-place Rangers in the Metropolitan Division.
New Jersey at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
Even when they are struggling, the Detroit Red Wings are finding ways to pick up points as they prepare to wind up a four-game homestand against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. The Red Wings halted a three-game winless drought with a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Sunday and have earned at least one point in 15 of their last 16 games (9-1-6).
Vancouver at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been forced to put their organizational depth to the test over the last month, and it has not stopped them from posting victories. The Lightning, who are 6-3-0 in December despite a long injury list filled with key players, look to continue that trend when they host the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.
Ottawa at Florida 7:30 PM ET
The Florida Panthers are surging up the Eastern Conference standings and will look to extend their winning streak to five games when they host the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. The Panthers have won 10 of their past 13 games (10-3-0) and are in the midst of a favorable portion of the schedule as they play the second contest of a six-game homestand.
Montreal at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens can't seem to locate their offense, but a horrific 1-8-0 mark has taken its toll on their lead in the Atlantic Division. With just 14 goals in their last nine games, the Canadiens look to strengthen their tenuous grasp on first place when they visit the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
Chicago at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks get their first chance at the Western Conference leaders this season when they visit the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Chicago’s Patrick Kane leads the league in scoring with 50 points while Dallas forwards Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin - his two closest competitors - key the NHL’s most productive offense.
Winnipeg at Calgary 9:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames look to put a quick end to their skid when they kick off a four-game homestand against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. Calgary began the month with a seven-game winning streak that included a perfect five-game string at home before enduring a lost weekend, falling in St. Louis on Saturday and Detroit the following day to finish 2-2-0 on a four-game trek.
Toronto at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs attempt to extend their point streak to seven games when they continue their three-game road trip Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes. Toronto improved to 4-0-2 in its last six contests with a 7-4 triumph at Colorado on Monday.
San Jose at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
After losing three of four to conclude a six-game road trip, the Los Angeles Kings look to regain their footing at home on Tuesday when they face the Pacific Division-rival San Jose Sharks. Los Angeles has won each of its last six contests at the Staples Center, but hardly looked like world-beaters on Saturday when it finished its lengthy trek with a 5-0 setback to lowly Toronto.
