Preview Roundups
December 17, 2015
Anaheim at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
If the Anaheim Ducks are Stanley Cup contenders, they have a funny way of showing it as they begin a four-game road trip through New York and New Jersey against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Anaheim began November with a four-game winning streak that halted a 1-7-2 start, but is spinning its wheels at 6-6-3 since after a stunning 5-1 loss to Carolina at home on Friday - the only game in an 10-day stretch for the last-place Ducks.
Florida at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers have been forced to use their depth this month and it has not stopped them from finding ways to register victories. Florida knocked off the red-hot New York Islanders on Tuesday without four key regulars up front and attempts to follow up that gritty performance with another when it visits the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
Vancouver at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
Shayne Gostisbehere was labeled as a star of the future for the Philadelphia Flyers, but his performances in the present have many in the City of Brotherly Love wondering if his time is now. The promising rookie defenseman and the Flyers look to continue their impressive run when they host the reeling Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.
San Jose at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks have been successful on the road this season and hope to continue their winning ways when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. San Jose is 11-5-1 away from home - tied for the most road wins in the NHL - after beginning a five-game trip with a 3-1 victory in Montreal on Tuesday.
Los Angeles at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings will attempt to avoid their longest losing streak since dropping the first three contests of the season when they continue their six-game road trip with a visit to the slumping Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. Los Angeles has lost two in a row and had its nine-game point streak snapped in Monday's 5-3 loss at Ottawa.
Nashville at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators take a brief break from a home-heavy portion of their schedule when they visit the Central Division-rival St. Louis Blues on Thursday. Nashville is coming off a 1-1-1 homestand that concluded with Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to Calgary.
NY Rangers at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
With starting netminder Devan Dubnyk poised to return, the Minnesota Wild look to extend their point streak to nine games when they host the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Dubnyk has been sidelined for four games since suffering a groin injury at Colorado on Dec. 7, but Wild backup Darcy Kuemper allowed only six goals in his place.
Edmonton at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
After seeing his franchise-record 26-game point streak come to an end, Patrick Kane looks to pick himself off the mat on Thursday when the Chicago Blackhawks conclude their four-game homestand versus the Edmonton Oilers. Kane and his mates were kept off the scoresheet in a 3-0 setback to Central Division rival Colorado on Tuesday, but the 2013 Conn Smythe Trophy winner recorded a four-point performance in Chicago's 4-2 victory over Edmonton on Nov. 8.
Calgary at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Calgary Flames attempt to remain perfect this month when they continue their four-game road trip against the league-leading Dallas Stars on Thursday. After ending November with a three-game skid, Calgary began December with a 5-0-0 homestand and extended the winning streak to six contests with an overtime victory at Nashville on Tuesday in the opener of its trek.
NY Islanders at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
After completing a perfect three-game road trip with a shutout of the defending Stanley Cup champion, the Colorado Avalanche return home to open a pronounced stretch at the Pepsi Center on Thursday when they host the New York Islanders. Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves and ended Patrick Kane's franchise-best 26-game point streak in a 3-0 victory over Chicago on Tuesday.
Columbus at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets are back where they stood almost two months ago, searching for answers while sitting eight games below .500. Columbus, which began the season with eight consecutive losses, has managed one victory in its last nine games as it prepares to visit the injury-hampered Arizona Coyotes on Thursday.
