Preview Roundups
December 12, 2014
Calgary at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames are suddenly having all sorts of problems keeping the puck out of the net - and a visit to Pittsburgh isn't exactly the remedy they need. The Flames look to halt a three-game skid Friday night as they visit the high-flying Penguins in the third of a four-game road trip. Calgary has surrendered 11 goals during their losing streak, and now face a Pittsburgh roster that comes into the night averaging 3.2 goals per game - good for third in the NHL.
Los Angeles at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens look to post consecutive victories for the first time since Nov. 20-22 as they continue their five-game homestand against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday. Montreal went 1-5-1 since allowing a total of one goal in triumphs over St. Louis and Boston but halted its three-game skid with an emotional 3-1 win over Vancouver in the homestand opener on Tuesday.
Florida at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings have put together one of the best nine-game stretches in the NHL - but you can bet they'll be looking to avenge their only regulation loss over that span. The Red Wings will get a chance to do just that Friday night as they host the Florida Panthers in the conclusion of a mini two-game homestand. The Red Wings are 7-1-1 over their past nine contests, with the lone missed points coming in a 4-3 defeat to the Panthers back on Dec. 2.
Anaheim at Edmonton 9:30 PM ET
The league-leading Anaheim Ducks look to remain perfect this month when they begin a five-game road trip against the Edmonton Oilers in the back end of their home-and-home series Friday. Anaheim improved to 5-0-0 in December with a 2-1 triumph over Edmonton at Honda Center on Wednesday as Matt Beleskey and Ryan Kesler tallied while Frederik Andersen made 21 saves. The victory gave the Ducks 43 points, two more than Chicago and Tampa Bay.
