Preview Roundups
December 06, 2016
Edmonton at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Buffalo Sabres have a chance to escape the basement in the Atlantic Division on Tuesday as they begin a four-game homestand against the Edmonton Oilers. Buffalo only was able to earn one point at Washington on Monday, dropping a 3-2 overtime decision in the lone road contest of a stretch during which it plays six of seven at home.
Vancouver at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
Michael Cammalleri is atop an offensive tidal wave of late and the veteran forward looks to continue his impressive ride on Tuesday as the New Jersey Devils make a brief stop home to face the Vancouver Canucks. Cammalleri capped a two-goal performance by scoring in overtime of a 5-4 victory at Nashville on Saturday, increasing the 34-year-old's point total to 14 (nine goals, five assists) in his last eight games.
NY Rangers at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers and New York Islanders are close in proximity but remain miles apart in the Metropolitan Division standings entering Tuesday's matchup at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Although the Rangers have gone nine games without back-to-back wins, they sit atop the Metropolitan while the Islanders are mired in the division basement.
Florida at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
Steve Mason is finding his top form at the right time and the Philadelphia Flyers are responding to his lead during their season-high five-game winning streak. Mason, named the NHL’s First Star of the Week on Monday, is expected to go after his fifth consecutive victory when the Flyers host the road-weary Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
Montreal at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
After squeezing out a rare victory in the state of California, the Montreal Canadiens will close out a rugged five-game road trip with a visit to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night. Montreal improved to 2-2-0 on its four-game trek with a 5-4 shootout victory over the Los Angeles Kings -- its second victory in the past 12 contests in the Golden State.
Colorado at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Colorado Avalanche are in a major tailspin on and off the ice as they prepare to kick off a four-game road trip with a visit to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. Riding a five-game losing streak, the Avalanche own the fewest points in the NHL with 19 after stumbling through a disastrous 0-4-1 homestand.
Detroit at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
Bryan Little is making up for lost time after sitting on the sideline for 23 games with a lower-body injury. With three goals in as many contests, Little looks to send the ascending Jets to their third straight victory overall and sixth in seven home outings on Tuesday when they host the Detroit Red Wings.
Arizona at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes attempt to send the Western Conference-leading Chicago Blackhawks to a season-high third consecutive loss and end a slide of their own when they conclude two-game, two-day road trip Tuesday. Chicago, which is one point behind Montreal for first overall in the league, has dropped two straight contests three times this season, including this past weekend as it suffered a 3-1 loss in Philadelphia on Saturday and was edged 2-1 by Winnipeg a day later at home.
Calgary at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Calgary Flames quickly distanced themselves from a slow start out of the gate by hitting the fast track heading into the opener of a brief two-game road trip versus the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. After recording just five wins in their first 16 contests (5-10-1), the Flames have scorched the opposition with an 8-3-1 mark in their last 12 and gained confidence with an emphatic 8-3 shellacking of Anaheim on Sunday to cap a three-game homestand.
