Preview Roundups
December 05, 2015
Washington at Winnipeg 3:00 PM ET
Sometimes a hot goaltender can make the difference, and the Washington Capitals hope Braden Holtby continues his stellar play Saturday when the Capitals visit the Winnipeg Jets. The Capitals have won six games in a row, and much of the credit goes to the 26-year-old Holtby, who has allowed just 12 goals while starting every game of the winning streak.
Pittsburgh at Los Angeles 4:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled to locate their offense for much of the season, but Evgeni Malkin has had no such issue over the team's recent seven-game stretch (4-1-2). With eight goals and five assists during that run, Malkin looks to continue his good fortune on Saturday as the Penguins play the second contest of their four-game road trip against the Los Angeles Kings.
NY Islanders at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders attempt to extend their winning streak to five games when they begin a three-game road trip against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. After ending November with regulation victories over Tampa Bay and Colorado, New York has begun the new month with shootout triumphs over the crosstown-rival Rangers and St. Louis.
Nashville at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
After enjoying a rare chance to breathe easy in their last outing, the Detroit Red Wings look to extend their point streak to 10 games on Saturday when they conclude a six-game homestand versus the Nashville Predators. The Red Wings recorded eight consecutive one-goal decisions before breezing to a 5-1 win over Arizona on Thursday.
Montreal at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
After suffering their first regulation loss in seven games, the Montreal Canadiens look to get back on track on Saturday when they visit the spiraling Carolina Hurricanes. Captain Max Pacioretty has nine goals and eight assists in 17 career meetings with Carolina, but saw his five-game point streak come to an end in Thursday's 3-2 setback to Washington.
Toronto at St. Louis 7:00 PM ET
Two teams struggling to score goals face off Saturday as the St. Louis Blues host the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both clubs have gotten off to rough starts in December, combining for a total of three tallies in four games.
Columbus at Philadelphia 7:30 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers are a different team lately and carry a season-high four-game winning streak into Saturday's contest with the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets. "It feels good," Wayne Simmonds told reporters after Philadelphia's 2-1 overtime victory at New Jersey on Friday in which the right wing scored for the fourth time in his last three games. "Guys are confident in our team. We're doing the right things. We have confidence on the bench, and I think it shows."
Colorado at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
Devan Dubnyk is starting to flash the form that sparked the Minnesota Wild's stirring postseason drive last season, but a more pressing matter may keep him out of the net for Saturday's home game against the Colorado Avalanche. Dubnyk's wife is expecting the couple's second child, which would sideline him for the first leg of the home-and-home set.
Boston at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks will try to begin turning their season in a positive direction when they host the surging Boston Bruins on Saturday night. The Canucks have scored just five times while dropping four straight games (0-2-2) and recorded just 16 shots in each of the last two contests to fall under .500 for the first time this season.
Tampa Bay at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning look to clinch a winning road trip to California when they visit the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. The Lightning, still waiting for three key forwards to return from injuries, knocked off Anaheim 2-1 on Wednesday night to start their trek and will take on the Los Angeles Kings to end it Sunday.
