Preview Roundups
December 04, 2016
Montreal at Los Angeles 3:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings continue to stay afloat in the competitive Pacific Division without No. 1 goaltender Jonathan Quick as they begin a three-game homestand Sunday against the Montreal Canadiens. Much of the credit goes to Peter Budaj as the No. 3 goalie appeared in 22 straight games (20 starts) - a run originally necessitated by a groin injury to No. 2 Jeff Zatkoff, but prolonged on merit.
Tampa Bay at Carolina 5:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning got the important result needed to change their course and attempt to build on it less than 24 hours later, when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. The Lightning snapped a season-high four-game losing streak with a solid effort at both ends of the ice Saturday in a 2-1 shootout victory over Washington.
Philadelphia at Nashville 6:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers look to extend their season-high winning streak to five games when they visit the Nashville Predators on Sunday. The Flyers gave up the first goal before defeating Chicago 3-1 on Saturday afternoon without a point recorded by their top three scorers as 19-year-old rookie defenseman Ivan Provorov notched his second and third goals of the season.
Detroit at NY Islanders 6:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders aim to extend a pair of streaks when they begin a three-game homestand Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings. New York has won a season-high three consecutive contests overall and owns a three-game point streak at home (2-0-1), where it has lost in regulation only twice in its last nine (4-2-3).
Winnipeg at Chicago 7:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks host the Winnipeg Jets in a Central Division matchup Sunday, and both teams are dealing with injuries to top performers. The Blackhawks lost 3-1 Saturday at Philadelphia, hours after goaltender Corey Crawford underwent an appendectomy, while the Jets upended St. Louis 3-2 in overtime Saturday night at St. Louis while missing center Mark Scheifele due to a lower-body injury.
Anaheim at Calgary 9:30 PM ET
The Pacific Division has been quite competitive thus far this season, with six of the seven teams separated by only seven points — and the Calgary Flames are right in the mix. Calgary attempts to remain in the thick of things and complete its three-game homestand with a perfect record when it hosts the division-rival Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
Minnesota at Edmonton 9:30 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild aim for the first victory of their five-game road trip when they visit the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Minnesota has suffered a one-goal loss in each of the first three contests of its trek, with shootout defeats in St. Louis and Calgary sandwiched around a regulation setback in Vancouver.
