Preview Roundups
December 03, 2016
Boston at Buffalo 1:00 PM ET
The return of Jack Eichel has provided an immediate jolt to the Buffalo Sabres, who look to match a season high when they go for their third straight victory against the visiting Boston Bruins on Saturday afternoon. Buffalo has the fewest goals in the league but has scored nine times in two games with Eichel back in the lineup.
Carolina at NY Rangers 1:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers have cooled off considerably after their hot start to the season but have a chance to beat the same opponent for the second time in a five-day span when the Carolina Hurricanes pay a visit on Saturday afternoon. New York erased a two-goal deficit to post a 3-2 win over the visiting Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
Chicago at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers have dominated the Chicago Blackhawks at home since opening the doors to the Wells Fargo Center. After falling short in a contest in the building's first season (1996-97), the Flyers vie for their 13th straight home regular-season win over the Blackhawks when the clubs meet on Saturday afternoon.
New Jersey at Nashville 2:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils routinely have stumbled upon leaving the Garden State limits this season and face another uphill battle on Saturday afternoon. The Devils look to snap a four-game winless skid when they visit the Nashville Predators, who have won six in a row at home and are 8-1-1 at Bridgestone Arena heading into the opener of a three-game homestand.
Toronto at Vancouver 7:00 PM ET
When the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs squared off nearly a month ago, the game spun out of control with seven game misconducts and eight fighting majors called in the third period alone. Whether there will be retribution from either side is the main storyline when the Maple Leafs visit Vancouver on Saturday night.
Winnipeg at St. Louis 7:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues have earned at least a point in their past 11 home games and look to extend that streak Saturday when the Winnipeg Jets come to town. Forward Vladimir Tarasenko recorded the third regular-season hat trick of his career in Thursday’s 5-4 victory over Tampa Bay, finishing with four points as St. Louis earned its third consecutive one-goal home victory.
Florida at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers gained at least a point in both games since the surprising coaching change and look to extend that streak to three when they visit the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night. The Panthers lost in a shootout at Chicago in coach Tom Rowe’s debut Tuesday after he replaced Gerard Gallant and Aleksander Barkov’s overtime goal beat Detroit 2-1 on Thursday.
Washington at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
Nothing is coming easy for the Washington Capitals and the Tampa Bay Lightning this season after coming in as two of the favorites in the Eastern Conference. The Capitals are struggling offensively after finishing second in the league in scoring last season as they prepare to pay a visit to the Lightning, who have dropped four in a row while giving up 19 goals in the process.
Detroit at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Two-time Hart Trophy winner Sidney Crosby and the reigning Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins are having little trouble generating offense while the Detroit Red Wings are having plenty of trouble avoiding the injury bug. Crosby will look to send the Penguins to their fourth win in six outings on Saturday when they play the second contest of a three-game homestand versus the Red Wings.
Columbus at Arizona 8:00 PM ET
The streaking Columbus Blue Jackets are within striking distance of first place in the Metropolitan Division as they prepare to kick off a home-and-home series against the team with the fewest wins in the league. The Blue Jackets pay a visit to the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday before hosting the Pacific Division cellar dwellers in Monday's rematch.
Dallas at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars are allowing goals at an alarming rate and their troubles on the road have the owners of last season's top mark in the Western Conference sinking in the Central Division in 2016-17. Winless in three straight overall and five in a row away from home, the Stars look to salvaged the finale of a four-game road trip on Saturday night when they visit the cellar-dwelling Colorado Avalanche.
Anaheim at Edmonton 10:00 PM ET
Connor McDavid is trying to take Edmonton on a ride it hasn't experienced since 2006 and hopes to keep the Oilers on track when they host the surging Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. More importantly, the play of Edmonton's 19-year-old captain and owner of NHL-bests 23 assists and 34 points is starting to rub off on his teammates - most notably Leon Draisaitl, whose nine goals are on pace to shatter the 19 he scored in his first full season of 2015-16.
