Preview Roundups
December 03, 2014
Montreal at Minnesota 7:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild are a special-teams enigma, boasting one of the league's top penalty-killing units but struggling mightily on the power play. The Wild will try to to build some man-advantage success Wednesday night against a team that doesn't give up many opportunities as they host the Montreal Canadiens. Minnesota entered Tuesday ranked 29th with a 9.6-percent power-play success rate, a stark contrast to its second-ranked penalty kill.
St. Louis at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks attempt to extend their winning streak to four games as they return home from their annual Circus Trip on Wednesday to face the St. Louis Blues. Chicago went 5-1-0 on its trek, wrapping it up with identical 4-1 victories at Anaheim and Los Angeles over the weekend. The Blackhawks will be without Corey Crawford, however, as the goaltender was ruled out for the matchup with St. Louis due to a lower-body injury.
Edmonton at Winnipeg 9:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers have just one game between now and Sunday night - and if things go poorly, it could be the final contest behind the bench for embattled head coach Dallas Eakins. The Oilers look to halt a miserable 10-game losing streak as they visit the Winnipeg Jets in an all-Canadian battle on Wednesday. The Oilers have earned just three points during the skid, and won't get any sympathy from a Jets team coming off a tough 2-1 overtime loss in Boston.
Philadelphia at Anaheim 10:30 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers attempt to halt their losing streak when they continue their five-game road trip against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday. Philadelphia's slide reached five contests (0-4-1) Tuesday as it lost at San Jose in heartbreaking fashion. Steve Mason yielded Matt Nieto's goal with 11.5 seconds remaining in the third period as the Flyers suffered their ninth setback in 11 contests (1-8-1) to fall to 0-2-0 on their trek.
