Preview Roundups
December 01, 2016
Carolina at Boston 7:00 PM ET
A pair of teams that have fallen into ruts both offensively and in the win column will square off Thursday night when the Boston Bruins host the Carolina Hurricanes. Boston has dropped four of its last five games and the Hurricanes have lost three of four -- with a lack of scoring figuring prominently in each team's slump.
NY Rangers at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
New York Rangers veteran Rick Nash is starting to heat up while Buffalo Sabres young star Jack Eichel provided an undeniable spark in his season debut. Both forwards look to keep surging ahead on Thursday as the Metropolitan Division-leading Rangers travel to the western side of the Empire State to visit the Atlantic Division cellar-dwelling Sabres.
Dallas at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The road has not been kind of late to the Dallas Stars, who attempt to halt their skid as they continue their four-game trek Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dallas is winless in its last four away from home (0-2-2), including setbacks at St. Louis and Detroit on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, to begin its trip.
NY Islanders at Washington 7:00 PM ET
After having four days to stew over their third consecutive road defeat, the Washington Capitals look to take out their frustrations on a Metropolitan Division rival when they host the New York Islanders on Thursday. Washington has been idle since Saturday, when it suffered a 4-2 loss at Toronto a day after concluding a 4-1-0 homestand with a triumph over Buffalo.
Philadelphia at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators saw their four-game winning streak come to an end despite Mike Hoffman highlighting a four-point performance with his first career hat trick. With four goals and five assists in his last five contests, Hoffman and the Senators look to keep their offense in gear on Thursday when they continue their three-game homestand against the high-octane Philadelphia Flyers.
Florida at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
It has been an inauspicious start to a six-game road trip for the Florida Panthers, who have dropped a pair of one-goal decisions and lost their head coach to start the trek. The Panthers will play their second game under general manager and interim coach Tom Rowe when they visit the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night.
Tampa Bay at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been springing leaks in the defensive zone during a three-game losing streak and it won’t get any easier when they visit the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night. The Lightning allowed 14 goals in three consecutive losses - two of them against Columbus - and the Blues have earned points in nine straight games at home (8-0-1) and all but one this season (10-1-2).
Edmonton at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets answered a season-high five-game losing skid by winning the first two contests of their three-game homestand. The Jets look to continue to feast on home cookin' and extend their winning streak to six games at MTS Centre on Thursday when they face the skidding Edmonton Oilers.
New Jersey at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks are sitting atop the Central Division and own one of the league's best home records as they prepare to host the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night. After going 3-3-1 on their annual circus road trip, the Blackhawks returned home with a 2-1 shootout victory over Florida on Tuesday to improve to 9-1-2 at United Center.
Columbus at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets have lost only twice in their last 10 home games and have a chance to avenge one of those defeats when they visit the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night. The surging Blue Jackets are 6-1-2 overall in their last nine games, including a 3-2 overtime defeat against visiting Colorado on Nov. 21.
Los Angeles at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings attempt to begin a new winning streak as they take a break between three-game homestands Thursday to visit the Pacific Division-rival Arizona Coyotes. Los Angeles had its season-high five-game winning streak snapped Wednesday when it suffered a 4-1 loss to San Jose that also ended its string of six consecutive victories at Staples Center.
Anaheim at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
Rickard Rakell hopes his November to remember is followed by similar results in the new month as the Anaheim Ducks open a three-game road trip through Western Canada on Thursday with a date versus the Vancouver Canucks. The 23-year-old Swede scored for the second straight game and ninth time in 14 contests as Anaheim posted its second straight victory with a 2-1 triumph over Montreal on Tuesday.
